New Official Skybox F5S/F3S Software Released 08/04/14

Skybox have released a new software for the F3/5S boxes. Official release notes state :

• FIX BUG: XMLTV EPG summer time error,goto
  System Setup -->EPG Default Setting ,and Set Summer Time "ON" to correct the time

This post has been edited because a newer version of the software has been released by Skybox which fixes the issue of the Epg being one hour incorrect due to BST.

This software is the exact official download and is therefore NOT password protected. I can confirm that both Geo and Sony Max both work on my F5S with this software. I am in the process of investigating Baby TV as at first I only had audio displaying on this channel. I then noticed that Nicktoons and Nick Jnr which are also on the same transponder were also not working. As a result I went into the menu and did a search for channels on the affected TP which is 12266 and the aforementioned channels including Baby TV are now displaying correctly. I am therefore currently checking the details in AJ's channel list and comparing them with the KingofSat frequencies to see if there's any discrepancy. I can also confirm that Youtube is currently working again but the 1 hour Epg incorrect time display is still present.

Strange that you had problems with Baby TV, Nicktoons & Nick jnr. I have just installed this firmware with no problems on those channels. They worked first time.

I notice that the software version is the same as Super jumbe's (3601HD_01_04_2014_06B5).

I also noticed that Super jumbe's firmware changed the "International" favourite to "Asian".

Yea - I was actually wondering myself if it is actually a copy of Super Jumbe's software. With regards to the channels perhaps it's a glitch in my version of AJ's list. I use the SD with Adult version which I download directly from his site. I've just redownloaded it to check and it's the same. I've offered an explanation in his channel list discussion thread. Please could you let me know which version list you're using for me to check it? Thanks.

I'm also using AJ's list (with SD and adult), which I downloaded from the stickies above.

When I installed the official software this morning, I chose to not keep DSB & settings as I thought this would give me a cleaner install. I then installed AJ's latest list.

Didn't do any kind of scan, just installed the channel list.

Where did you see the FEC details? I could not find them on the box. Did you use a channel editor to look at them?

Yea I use Media Box Editor from one of the stickies. When you right click and modify a channel it lists the properties and you will see the FEC in one of the drop down menus. AJ's lists have them as 3/4 instead of the correct 2/3. Don't know if that was the issue for sure. It's possible that if I left them on for long enough perhaps they would have eventually cleared.

Does this release not fix the 7day xmltv epg being an hour out?

If not, there is no reason for me to go through hassle of upgrading again as there is no difference from Super Jumbe's version then.

No it still doesn't fix the epg isue and as you say no point in upgrading from Super Jumbe's version. It's possible that this version is in fact Super Jumbe's version - who knows? As Hadron pointed out - they both have the same date.

Unfotunately, I have to report that I have found a bug with this software. Apart from the already present bugs which are:

Time Display loses approx. 4 to 6 minutes per 24 hours. Present since the launch of the " S " series.

Time, Clock Display, EPG and Info Banner is 2 minutes fast after synchronisation. Present since the launch of 22-01-14 firmware.

EPGXML programme listing times are 1 hour incorrect when Time setting has been adjusted for British Summertime in the menu. Present since the change in BST.

The new bug is as follows:

When the GUI menu setting is set as " Whole " in the M/P ( Micro Panel ) the following behaviour can be noticed. While tuned to certain channels, if you press the "OK" button on your remote and highlight and proceed to navigate slowly through the " Favorite " options e.g. Entertainment, Lifestyle, Movies, Sports and so on the channel will freeze until you exit the menu. This behaviour also occurs if you select the options such as ALL, Satellite, Providers, A-Z etc in the left hand menu.
