Its been said before but as the old saying goes 'How longs a piece of String' no one knows everything from this point onwards is pure speculation, The ID pairing procedure has been about for about 18 months and has slowly worked for a lot of the Cards but this is something new and could be to do with the Interactive/Subtitle side to how the transmission is broadcast.

In other words an Official receiver can handle this change everything else cannot

A Motorised satellite System does not have to be expensive or large an 80cm dish size will garnish you with 1000's of channels spread across the satellite ARC

If Official receivers can handle this ? whats different from FTA and scrambled channels, surely if it is done by digital code
someone in the know could work it out, if its done by computer it can be undone?
look where we were a few years ago.

Not all official receivers can handle it, that's why Thomson and some Samsung HD receivers are being swapped out. Non-HD boxes cannot handle it and are not being swapped out, so you can draw your own conclusions about SD channels.

If everything does go then you can use box for FTA channels (ie freesat).

I feel sorry for those that have only recently bought ?150+ box and plan on using it for 28.2. Now that is a waste unless other methods become adopted instead

It's said that they have started on a few HD channels (little watched ones) to see if it also affects original $ky boxes. It's expected that over coming weeks (assuming $ky don't run into unexpected problems) that all HD will go. SD could then go after but as previously said this is all speculation and as for any timeframes that is again speculation on how long.

I thought card pairing was being introduced under the guise of interactive/subtitle side of things (ie MHEG-5).

Do you really think that card pairing is also a result of the introduction of MHEG-5?
