    Channel search, now dead

Did a blind search on my f3 and now my box seems to be dead, is it bricked? Can it be fixed

It's about a year old and has always been fine up until now

Well to be honest I'm just assuming that, there seems to be no power when I switch it on at the back with no display showing but the Ethernet port is flashing at the back.

Hi I had the exact same problem. I did a satellite channel search, shown on TV screen nearly 60% complete, and seems hung subsequently. On skybox display "SpChnl" (something like that!). Reset box by switching OFF then ON again, no display on Box. LAN signal blinking, TV can detect signal from HDMI cable, but indicated Device not power on, etc. seems box cannot boot/IPL at all.

I have been looking at that but my pc had a virus so I just packed it away into a box and just have a laptop now

didnt want to spend out on a null cable then USB adapter for it to not work and have to buy another box

Turns out my pc doesn't have a suitable socket anyway so I guess it will be the USB to null route.

doesnt anyone have a link to one that will definitely work?

perhaps you want to invest or borrow the RS232 cable. I followed a similar approach suggested garrygeezer in another forum (on F5 problem) running off my notebook (using USB connector), and it worked. just make sure you download the latest firmware from the manufacturer's website.
