downloading EPG problems

cant download the new EPG, never had problem before.

just plugged my usb into my laptop and it says it needs formatting to be able to read.

never done this before either, so I guess something as happened to the usb some how.

shall I re-format it to FAT32 then try it again??

my laptop wont let me re-format my usb, says its read only.

I got this usb with my box, and its been fine for months, how can it just some how stop working.
