USB extension doesn't work with F5

Hello guys I have a generic USB male to female extension (Don't know if 2.0 or 3.0) but when I plug it into the F5 and then Plug my USB 3.0 into it it doesn't detect anything?

How long is the USB extension, I use a 5m one without any problems on a USB 2 drive.
I've also seen some USB extensions that are just data cables and don't have the power wires.
Have you tried the same combo on a PC / laptop or just try a USB pen drive instead of the USB 3 device on the extension to the F5?
