    Upgrading Skybox F5S?

    Hi there,

I really do apologise if this has been posted many times before but I can't seem to find a certain answer.

My first question really is, will I benefit from upgrading my box? I currently have a F5S and has a firmware dated 2013, the website states a 2014 version is available. Am I correct is stating this is the latest update?

    SkyBox | SkyBox

Secondly, after flashing what will I need to do to get functionality of my scrambled channels back? Do I just flash the CCCam.cfg file and that's it?

Thirdly, the apps on the box fail to work also, will upgrading fix this issue?

Fourthly, will it fix some of the scrambling issues?

    Thanks.

    1. That is the latest firmware and incorporates quite a few bug fixes, so it is worth updating.

    2. Once you have flashed your firmware, you need to flash an updated channel list ie AJ's or sattv5's and any other system/internet files.

    3. Network apps should work after firmware update.

    4. No, the HD channels are getting block by $ky.

When installing new firmware by USB the default setting is to "keep DBS & settings" so your current channel list & all settings (including gift) are kept.

It's still a good idea to have a copy of your gift on your pc if you haven't already done so.

Oh so that's what that means. I mean is it recomended for a newbie like myself to just keep this as 'Yes' when upgrading? I mean I do have the CCcam.cfg file backed up if this is what you mean.

Ah I do apologise my mistake. So an update, I upgraded my box to the new firmware and it did seem to fix the apps issue and some of the scrambled channels surprisingly. For some reason though, the box didn't clear the gift after the upgrade, even with 'Keep DBS and Settings?' set to 'No' before clearing, to the new firmware and I had some trouble with the channel list but that was all fine.

The only problem I had with the new firmware was that the channel would sometimes do little cut outs. I.e It would cut out and instantly come back which didn't happen on the firmware it was originally on. I noticed there was also a new 7 day EPG which was nice.

As I wasn't that confident, and how careful I am and took an image of the box before flashing, I restored this and have decided to leave it be as I got it.

The one thing I was scared about was if my box was genuine or not. After countless searching I found that the only way is to flash official firmware. If it reboots after then it's fake as you mention.
