    Skybox F5s lockup

    Hi all

hoping to get some suggestions on this if poss

I have a Skybox F5s running off a Sky minidish
I only use it for the spare bedroom for FTA channels
No special config applied other than AJ's FTA channel list

I went to watch TV yesterday, and it just locked up on me for no apparent reason
It has been working for well over 6 months with only the occasional channel and firmware update
Im able to reboot it, and then it locks up the same after around 5-10 seconds whatever channel im on
    Remote is unresponsive

    Things Ive tried:
    Factory reset
    Firmware flash
    New channel list
    Different USB stick
    Different network cable
    Different HDMI cable
Left it all disconnected from the TV, power and the sat feed over night - same thing the next morning....

I dont have another box to try, nor do I have another dish+feed to try

    Things Ive discovered
    None of the above work!

However, worth noting that it only locks when I have the satellite cable feed going into it
I can browse the menus all day long (+ youtube) with a working remote on the same kit

    I am thinking faulty LNB?
Or maybe the hot weather has got to it?
Its the standard sky minidish that came with the house.. I have no idea how old it is?
Nor do I have a clue what type of LNB is on it... other than there was 2 feeds coming from it. I chopped one, and laid the other round the back of the house into the back bedroom when I first set it up back in November

    Any more ideas people?

Would love your input + thanks in advance

Check the connection going into the back of the box.It sounds like the outer wire might be touching the inner wire and shorting the box.

I don't know why it should suddenly start giving problems now, but it sounds like the same problem as in this thread:-

The solution was found from post#65.

I still cant get the box to work after all the suggestions in that post....

          The best solution from there....
Reflashing to an earlier firmware, factory reset it, delete the channel list, delete the constant.cw and other files. Ive never used any of these other files, so they were all blank.. but I did make a new blank file and uploaded it to a USB stick, and then used that to upgrade the box.
The firmware was a download from this site, and it did work.

Ive also tried putting a new end on the satellite cable

I think im going to have to put this down to faulty box and bite the bullet and get a proper one - overkill for my spare room.. but I want it to work for more than a year!

          Any other ideas people?
