This morning my box's date has reverted to November 1903 so that has knocked off the EPG, can't see how to manually ammend the date, anyone know a fix ?

This has happened to me a few times.
I have left it for a day or so and tried to update it then it worked fine!
I think its an error with XMLTV EPG but im not entirely sure.

Right, turns out my router fell off the white openreach box and fell on the floor and the Ethernet cable that's hooked into my homeplugs had been knocked in the way, had to pull it out using a lot of force, stuck it in the spare Ethernet socket on the router, rebooted the homeplugs (again) and everything started working
Had only been watching FTA the day because of the commonwealth games so didn't know the $$ had been knocked off too
All sorted now
