    F5 Problem

My F5 has started to glitch on channels and leading it to crash the box. Only way to get it back on is turn off by the plug.

Once back on this could go again almost straight away or hours later.

Is this a firmware problem or hardware?

Not sure what firmware is on it atm either.

Does it glitch on Free to Air channels??, if there's no problem with FTA channels then it's a provider problem, nothing wrong with your box.

If it's glitching on all channels then ensure you have a good sat feed connection at the back of the box and there isn't any obvious damage to the cable/lnb/dish on the outside of your house. Check on a prone glitching channel your signal strength if it's very low then there could be an alignment problem.

If it's just started to glitch ie been ok for some time, then I doubt it's a firmware problem but latest firmware available SkyBox | SkyBox just follow the guide in the red stickies to install.

It's nothing to do with the provider side. It has happened on both BBC One and ITV.

When I say glitch, it makes a noise and the picture goes snowy and then the box becomes unuseable until I restart by the plug.

That's fine just when people mention glitches a lot of the time its down to poor/overloaded servers.

It does sound like a hardware problem, either the box or faulty lnb/cable, have you got a friend who has a dish that you could install you box on and see if it still glitches.

I updated to latest firmware. My dad was watching a prigram today and then it crashed, turned off at the plug and now get just a dim power light. No front panel display or load numbers.
