Skybox F5S - 10 Mbps Half Duplex Ethernet connection?

Hello. I have 4 'genuine' Skybox F5S units. They are all running latest firmware (10/04/2014) from the Skybox website.

When connecting over ethernet, I notice the connection is soooo slow. On my router or laptop that they connect to, they all say " 10 Mbps Half Duplex ". I can't really put that down to 1 faulty box.

According to the Skybox website, these should support 100 Mbps as every other network device made over the last 20 years can. Im sure the networking chipset used can support full speed, I doubt they have made a 10 Mbps only chipset for years. It makes watching YouTube impossible really.

It's not too important, I just wondered if anyone had noticed it before and come up with an answer or solution.

    Thanks

It's connected to my Asus router (3 feet away) with a cat 6 cable. It's got gigabit ethernet and works fine at 1.0 Gbps on my laptop. Strange.

Have you tried cat 5 cable?
There can be issues with cat 6.

Cat5 is no longer part of the cabling standard ISO11801, Cat5E is it's precursor. There would be very little difference in speed using Cat5E or Cat6 on a 1Gb backbone.

Your problem is more than likely your interpretation of the LEDs showing 10/100 and 1000 ports on your router. Take a look at this similar older thread http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...issues-277538/

Just noticed this is a four month old thread

I've came across this post & i would like to make some things clear about the skybox F5s.

I've been noticed a problem on the skybox network which is very very slow....

i've change / replaced the cat 5e cable. no result.

i've connected the the skybox direct to the modem no result

after giving up and sleeping over the problem. Yesterday i was setting up the Cisco Cataylist 2950 and noticed that the skybox f5s is only connected half duplex at 10mbs.

i've just changed the port onto a port which is working at full duplex at 100mbs. and i can confirm that the fault is the skybox f5s nic card because the working full duplex at 100mbs port had gone down to 10mbs half duplex
