    ARRRRGHHH! Openbox looping.

Good morning all you with the knowledge.

I have an Openbox V5S which is continually loading.

I have tried both the openbox firmware update and (just in case) the Skybox firmware which had no effect. I then tried the clone box firmware with the same result.

I did download the files from HERE

My PC does not have a dedicated RS232 port but I bought a decent USB to RS232 and I can connect to the box and the firmware seems to transfer OK but still no joy.

Can someone explain what (if at all) I am doing wrong or is it a case of a new doorstop?

    Thanks in advance.

If it's any help and if I remember correctly one or two other things can also cause the loading effect. A shorting lnb cable i.e. inner core touching the outer core and also a dodgy power supply can cause the same symptom. Have you tried the box without the lnb cable in? And also can you get hold of a different power supply. I also recall reading that one member cured his issue by using a different mains extension lead/multi socket adapter. Just some suggestions.

like bigade has stated, have you try booting the box without any sat cable connected?.

        Thanks both for the suggestion.

Yes I tried with and without the sat cable attached with no joy.

As for trying a different power supply. With all the power supplies I have collected over the years, not one of them has the right plug. I did find one but that turned out to be 6v 3000ma so totally unsuitable for the job. Hey ho!

With one attempt, I did manage to get to box to stop looping but it then hung at L097?
