Moving home, help on next box needed

With time in the military drawing to an end we are buying a property.

Looks like the house we are buying is in a cable area. Now i know i could put a dish up and still use my f5s, and just use virgin as my internet provider.

I would love it if someone could state how well virgin internet runs,

and for those in cable areas, what would be best, run an f5s, or go for the cable box version,

i have just gotten fully to grips with this box after using it for 9 months. I know feel confident in more than most areas concerning the box.

If it is the cable version thats best, i would be greatful if someone could point me in the right direction of starter boxes for them.

    Many thanks

Virgin media bband is by far the best imho. As there's no hd channels channels, you could still stick with f5s. If I were you I would go for a enigma 2 box where you can do a lot more with them iptv etc. or if your happy with a cable box get a kryptview a780 or a kryptview Hd box. Though I have seen some posts lately of net Id problems with the hd boxes.

I would avoid the Kryptview boxes, as they are tied in to the manufacturer.

Without breaking the forum rules, all I can say is that you have much more "choice" with a box such as an Q5 HD PVR or Amiko mini HD T2/C. Both are starter boxes costing around ?60 - ?70 as a FTA receiver, but you can obviously add things to it in the same way as your F5s.

I have a box called a Lexuzbox F90. It is very basic (& very rare in this country), but I now get all the HD channels back again, and it hasn't glitched once since I've had it.

Have a look in the cable section for more info on boxes.

Amiko also do a combo box, for sat & cable.

Cable boxes are usually a bit harder to setup than satellite, as the channels are on different frequencies, depending on your location, but once you know the NETID, frequency, & symbol rate for your area, you should be OK.

Thanks Hadron, i see im going to have to do some homework into how the cable boxes work, and which would be more beneficial. Thank you for your help.

same idea be it sat or cable both have their own routes to follow, combo boxes have dual usage but beware of living in a poor signal area as some of cable boxes have poor tuners.

MIRACLEBOX PREMIUM MINI HD e2 box can run vix and abm ?149
Q5 HD PVR mentioned as a weak tuner.
            Openbox C4
            Amiko Mini HD
            Amiko Mini Combo
Cloud iBox 3 ibox 3 has a weak cable tuner needs a very strong signal to work.

Kryptview boxes are tied to the manufacturer but have been running relatively problem free for 3 years, the occasional glitch just like sat boxes.
3 years is a long time and when you think other avenues last for a couple of months make sure you've found the right guy and box before spending cash.

Each system has it's own merits & downfalls.

At least if you buy one of the boxes in cactikid's post & you suddenly end up with just FTA channels, you have the option to get the box going again.

If the same thing happens with a Kryptview box, you end up with a doorstop, like my old A750.

Hadron, as you know the box is paid for after 3 months. Anything after that is a bonus! So with Kv still going strong without any extra payments sometimes better the devil you know...though as stated in my last post with the right guy, provider, pretty much any box is good when stable
