USB Pen Issuse

Thought i would post a update.

Fingers crossed i have solved my problem.

Found my box was becoming unresponsive.
It looks like the USB stick was not responding. To get the box to respond i had to Either take the stick out or reboot the box.

I have noticed this has happened a few time on here researching the forum.

So. I looked to reformat my USB pen. This option was greyed out.
Looking around the internet my pen had become write protected!!!! How, god knows.

I had to do a reg edit hack to sort this problem out.

Will see how it goes otherwise its a new pen.

I was lucky, when my 4gig stick went "read only" windows saw it as a raw drive only I was able to edit the 1st 512 bytes with a chunk I copied from an identical drive, using a hex editor.

Looks like the usb stick is dying.
started coming up with device to slow again and box starts to become unresponsive.
Stick now removed. Just no TV guide until i can find/replace stick

I once had one that only lasted 1 day and went read only.
It was a lexar that had a lcd readout on the side to show how full it was.It must have been a lousy design because the stores pulled them off the shelf and I never saw them again.
