Hi guys are the v8s any good also is the software the same as the f5s or do I need to download it from yojiatech.com as skybox.cc doesn't list the openbox v8s. Thanks in advance.Ps is the epg the same as the f5s.

i have one coming either today or tomorrow so i will post my findings i already have a f5s so im curious to see if its that much better, i wanted a second box for bedroom anyway though and just stuck with the slybox/openbox as i knew what i was doing with these. im hoping the epg works on them and maybe the recording will be more reliable? it also has web tv so interested to see what thats likeComment

ok well i can confirm the epg works the same as the f5s, the box looks nice, its sturdy has good rubber feet so the box doesnt move around when placed on top of something, and the on screen displays look a bit nicer than the f5. The web tv adds a couple of thousand channels from around the world but even though i have fibre optic high speed broadband very few actually connect and the box actually rebooted itself a few times when trying to select a new channel? Youxxxn doenst work at all and there is no youtube app on the box though i heard there will be firmware released for it soon.
The main thing that i really love though which makes it a winner for me is the recording facility actually works perfectly!!! with the f5s the only way my recordings worked was by always leaving the box on as if i didnt the box would turn on and go to the correct channel but wouldnt actually record well with the v8S even with the box in standby it works like it should so im very happy about that part

YEs the 7 day xml tv epg works just like the f5s if u did the software update, but now of course u dont need to update software its just there from the start, you just need to go in an update it with either a hdd or usb plugged into it to store the info. I just plugged in my 2tb ext hard drive i was using on the f5s and it worked no probs and as i said the recording feature works every single time even when box is on standby it works. All i need to see now is whether the epg auto update actually works on this box as it didnt on the f5sComment

I have a V5 and V8, both boxes are a big improvement from the v3 which I just got rid of just a few weeks back now. V5 has been really reliable and the record feature is brilliant. pauses, rewinds and records. Now the v8 is quick, nicer epg and layout, but the pause is rubbish. If you pause on the v8 the box pauses the picture but sound continues. then when you press play the box crashes. Also they have removed the rewind and fast forward fascillity. Anyone else have this problem with the v8???
If you want to pause or record then go for the v5, if not then I would buy the v8.Comment
