    flash openbox f5s

I have read the tutorial on how to flash a openbox on this form.

my box just keeps loading after loading after loading.

read on hear it needs to be flashed so I have a nulled modem cable and have it all connected up with the software eromupgrade.exe

I check im using the correct comm port witch is com4.
I then load the latest firmware and press next

    all I get is

    synchronizing STBs...
    please reset target!

and I cannot go any further.

any help would be much appreciated.

Are you using a pc with a built-in 9 pin RS232 serial port, or are you using a USB to serial adapter?

    Not all adapters work correctly.

A member recently used this all-in-one cable to flash his box:-

USB to Serial Null Modem Cable EuroVox Upgrade Lead | eBay

Also, if you want a separate adapter, then those using the Prolific PL2303HXD rev D have worked:-

Prolific PL2303HXD USB to RS232 Serial Cable 9 Pin Male for Win 7 8 - Apple Mac | eBay

Also make sure that your null modem cable is the correct type & not just a straight-through pin for pin serial cable. They look the same, but are wired differently. You need a lead with pin2-3, 3-2, & 5-5.:-

        2m Null Modem Cable - Update Satellite Firmware - Lead RS232, DB9 9 pin Serial | eBay

You should be able to find the equivalents on Amazon.
