    Libertview F5S box freezes

All of sudden by box freezes when turning it on. I can scroll through channels for the first 5 seconds and then it will freeze. Same if I go into Menu straight away. I've just upgraded it to the latest firmware thinking that may fix it but its still the same

I was going to point you to the "too much of a coincidence" thread, as your symptoms are exactly as described in that thread:-

...but it looks like you have already tried that.

Could you try another power supply that has the same voltage, current & polarity as the F5s one?

That thread got closed without a real resolution to the problem. I've contacted the person I bought it off but where could I get another power supply that has the same voltage, current & polarity? Could it be it's not getting enough juice? If so I'll try plugging it directly into the mains socket rather than from an extension lead with other AV equipment plugged in.

Just replacing the 2 files with blank ones using the LAN tool seemed to work for a few members, but not for the OP (sailsy).

I was wondering if you had a spare power supply from another piece of eqipment that you could use. It would need to be 12V with the centre pin +ve & with a 2Amp rating (or more).

Plugging it straight into a mains socket, rather than an extension lead shouldn't make any difference, as the voltage is regulated inside the power supply unit.

I have an old SkyBox F3 will look at it's power rating and see if it's compatible.

The F3 has a built-in power supply board. Or do you mean F3s?

It was a Dreambox D500 actually and it's power cord didn't fix the fault. Tried another Skybox F5S too. Wonder what it could be?

Well the guy I bought it off has been suspended on eBay so now I'm really stuck. Don't fancy spending ?40 on another box as you can't really tell if their genuine.
