OPenbox V8S
I see there are a number of important facts about USBs that are not stated when buying a box.
Someone posted that only the Ralink RT5370 chipset works. Is that correct? So that is why my USB dongle does not work!
I think thebox only records onto FAT 32 partitions, not NTFS?
------------------------
What is the difference between the front and back USB ports?
------------------------
The back one seems to be higher powered? If I plug in my USB hard drive it only works on the back port.
If I have 2 drives plugged in it seems hit and miss if both of them are recognised?
(Correction: Yes only one hard drive is seen by Media Player but now the Front port A is recognising every USB drive and loading the xmltv file)
-----------------------
Does the speed of the USB card or Hard drive make a difference?
-----------------------
I have 3 USB hard drives, 3 USB sticks and a variety of SD cards! collected over the years...
I have a slow 62GB cheapo drive I bought on Ebay but it does record HD video from the back port.
But I think it is not quite as perfect as my fast drive. Need to experiment more.
Anything else we need to know? I know I had problems with the reported time when using xmltv on one hard drive which disappeared when I used an unrecorded drive? Bizarre.
