Strange problem scanning channels with Openbox V8S

    Hi there,

I have a motorised system and I just bought an Openbox V8S to replace my old receiver. I've successfully scanned and retrieved the channels for Hotbird 13E and Eutelsat 7E, but when I try to scan for other satellites, it's actually bringing back channels which are on different satellites.

Fo example, I am scanning for transponder 10832 H 22000 on 28.2E. I find a strong signal, so I save the position and do a blind scan. It starts scanning each transponder, but it returns RTL HD and several German channels which are in fact on the same transponder but on a different satellite (19.2E). It says its scanning for Sky UK 28.2E so I don't know why this is happening. I then go to my channels list and under Sky UK 28.2E, I can see these German channels listed and when I go to them they do work. So my dish seems to pointing to 19.2E, although my receiver is telling me that its on 28.2E.

I'm getting the same problems with other satellites such as Hellas Sat and Turksat as well.

Does anyone know what the problem might be?

    Many thanks,

The problem could be that you are most probably using Diseqc to move your dish and not USALS.
Go to your channel edit and remove "All Sats" channels then go to antenna set up and enter your position [location lat and long]
Enter the sat list and tick the sats you want to scan then edit each ticked sat so that instead of "off or Diseqc" you scroll to usals.
When editing finished press 5 on remote and the box will auto scan the sats you require.
Remember---Disable your limits in set up----lnb power on--do a blind scan [in edit on sat list] and DO NOT USE A CHANNEL LIST UNLESS YOU OBTAIN A MULTI SAT LIST as a single channel list will wipe out all your scanned lists except the one that the list is for----finally reboot box when scanning complete.
In Uk a good set up will consist of 5 sats----0.8W, 13E, 19.2E, 25.3E, 28.2E. Initially set up with your location on 28.2E if in UK or 0.8W if located in Europe.
You can add other sats if required and edit channels manually [delete or favourites]

The V8's are not really good enough for a motorized dish. For that you want a VU solo or Dreambox DM800hd to get the best out of your MOT dish

The V8s is good for a motorised system. Mine and my neighbours work perfectly and I know of many others using V8s/V5s/F5s and F3s without trouble. I have a DM7020HD and other boxes and all work well but for a cheap box such as the V8s etc, it works just as well on a motorised system as the others do. If you have a preference then good luck to you but don't pour scorn on a box that has bought cheap costs to many many people who couldn't afford to dip in to the dreambox market price tier.

I am only saying this as a friend of mine in the satellite industry says the cheap ones dont work as good as the more expensive one specifically made for motorized dishes. To much hassle, but then you get what you pay for.
