SKYBOX F5S STUCK ON A REBOOT LOOP L097 HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING

HAD 3 X F5S SKYBOxes on the cupboard which I never got the time to sort out as of xmas and new year

have flashed it with the appropriate image using usb to serial and null modem cable
it flashes perfectly fine but when loading up still the same reboots at L097 back to load
I haven't connected anything else but power as I know the lnb cable can be a factor but all 3 are doing the same thing

do you guys think its fixable or should I just return to seller and this happened to these 3 as I tried updating the tp_prog
weird I know but its the first time this happened to me

    many thanks in advance

Which firmware were you trying to flash the boxes with?

The symptoms you describe are typical of trying to flash a clone box with genuine firmware (or vice versa).

If they are genuine boxes get your firmware from skybox.cc. If clones, get the firmware from hddvbsw.com.

Do you still have the boxes that they came in? If so, you could look to see if there is a QR code on the box & scan it with a smart phone.

thanks hadron what I did to fix the L097 was firstly switch the usb to serial to com port 1, secondly used the qr scanner to detect whether it was an original or a clone
unfortunately it was a clone so downloaded the relevant abs file flashed it and volllaaa they are all loading up

shame that one just freezes within 15 seconds and does want to work
        second just says no signal
and third reboots when the lnb cable is in

would you say it was a waste of time as the above are not fixable ?

The first one sounds like it may have the "LAN tool" problem. Have a look at this thread (read from post #65 for the cure):-

The second one might be a tuner fault or there's a slim chance that it could be the resettable polymer fuse (F1) that's inline with the tuner supply. It's a toffee coloured component near the tuner. They sometimes go high resistance. You can check whether it's that by temporarily shorting out it's leads. You will need to remove the top of the F5s to do this of course. Be careful not to snap off the clips around the edge!

The third one could be a PSU problem. Have you tried using one of the other power supplies with this box?

hey thanks hadron for helping me out unfortunately non of the above have worked ill just send them back to supplier
however I was wondering im a bit stuck with starting a server with Ubuntu and was wondering if you had any idea how I could setup the ip address to
the server (laptop with Ubuntu on it ) as im stuck just before running the automatic script as my ip is coming up as inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask: 255:0.0.0
