Openbox/skybox/libertview series are all cheap nasty Chinese tat, that are easy to brick (just look at the numerous thread on this forum about people asking for help with bricked boxes), surprisingly picture quality is good but the epg is poor but as a starter box they work well as their the best option for 'plug & play'. Just avoid the clones out there as these could give you long term problems with firmware updates.
The system has a closed firmware, so no custom images can be installed, xxxx is added via a menu unless your taking about p0rn and there's a built in app for that
