struggling connecting skybox f3 to computer

My box somehow bricked itself whilst i was doing a channel list update.
No im trying to connect it to the pc to flash a fresh fw.
Im using a usb to rs232 and its having none of it.
Keep getting synchronizing stbs. Please reset target. And then hangs.
Im guessing its because of the cable im using has anyone any ideas?

Hi Message 'Reset target' means pc cannot see the receiver. Make sure both connections are secured tightly. Make sure receiver is switched off before you send file. Switch on receiver after you select send file. And of course make sure file is correct one for your receiver. Which loader are you using ?? I now always use the Hyper terminal function on my pc to send files to receivers and works ok. I have not tried it with a Skybox but believe it should work as it works on all the other receivers i have fixed.
    Regards

Hi make sure the usb is setup right
go to device manager (you don't say what windows your on)

See if you have any errors like the photo
if you do that's your problem the cable is not being seen by the computer
      because it has no drivers

loader doesn't like usb converters and I believe the f3 had it's own version of the loader if I remember correctly.
better off using an old pc with real com port.

Are you using one of the cheap USB to serial adaptors?

This all-in-one adapter has worked for some:-
