Hi guys i'm Looking to upgrade to v8s

hi guys am looking at updating my openbox f5s to the new V8S,
or should I stay with the f5s.
I have noticed there are two different types of V8S about
one with an icon with an S to the left of the box at the front in
goldish writing,
the other has, openbox written on the front left hand side
and a v8s small icon on the right with the other icons,
this one has the writing in white.
How will I know which is the kosha one,
a link or lead to a good supplier would be most appreciated.

Bill4676 thanks very much m8t, looks great, so this one is ok its the one with openbox on the front, what about the one that shows the icon with s on the front in yellowish writing is there a difference in the two. Pictures attached, sorry bill just noticed one is listed openbox rhe other is skybox, I will go for the one you listed m8t. Again thanks.

Did you make the switch? Many benefits? Im considering making the switch myself after having had the F5s for near 3 years now.

Also can anyone confirm if the V8s EPG works ok as im currently having the decompress issue on my f5s.

If there is nothing wrong with your F5 then i would not bother wasting money

Its V8S now but whats the next gen box has anyone in the know any ideas

Had one of these V8s boxes for a couple of weeks now, (one in the left hand pic above)
no complaints work great, USB port in front so hard drive plugs straight in for recording etc.
EPG works fine also.
Watched the big fight yesterday also on it

I've had the V8s since November last year, no problems with it, just updated the channel list without any issues. The recording function can be a bit hit and miss, I think it has something to do with the timer, seems to stop recording after one hour, but this can be sorted. You tube does not work at present, awaiting a software update I believe. I was a little concerned about the loss of the HD channels but as I run it thru' our Philips LED we get a great picture so I cant complain.

get a Zgemma ?20 more then then the v8s (I have both). The zgemma is the bee's :-)

The EPG works all the time. It has a twin tuner so you can watch one channel and record 2 more (up to 6 if pick the right programs on the right transponder)

You wont find Zgemma for ?20 more than I got the V8S (3 year free guarantee ) ?99.99

The Zgemma does look good though esp if you wish to record 1 channel and watch another at same time.


I will prob get 1 of them for the other room in the near future

I have just got a V8s box and the epg is getting the same error as the F5s decompress full error.
Are you getting the full epg or just the now and next epg,im very interested to know
