Ive just updated mine (F5s) and the time is spot on

...but do the programmes match up to the correct time?

My time is correct, but the programme info isn't.

For example, on Gold +1 right now (00:17) is Harry Enfiend & chums, but the EPG is showing 23:50 - 00:30 Not Going Out, & 00:30 - 01:00 Police Squad, which were on an hour earlier.

I'll squirt it onto my Openbox V8S tonight and report back. Fingers crossed it works.

As this is a firmware flash, I assume it will overwrite everything on the box. Yes? I'd better take a backup of the custom background, etc, just to be on the safe side.

Doesnt work with V8S, gives a message of "Hardware mismatch". Booooooooooooo!

Ignore me, I'm a doofus!!

I tried flashing the F5 image (didnt look). Found the V8s image on Skybox.cc

Now flashed and the XML EPG is updating properly..... I'll let you know about the time issue when its finished.

Time working OK too. The EPG is showing me shows starting at 10pm and its 10:11PM right now. So, the V8S version seems all good.

Are you sure you're using the correct firmware for your device? I'm not quite sure what the difference is between the V8 and V8S models but there is no firmware on the Skybox website for the V8S model. It is only for the V8. Yojiatech has V8S firmware but the last release is dated 7th December, 2014. Make sure you're using the correct firmware for your device.

That's a normal occurrence - the Epg has always been a bit hit and miss especially with the film channels. They tend to display correctly the following day after the download. I'm just wondering what the difference between the V8 and V8S is and have you lost a particular function due to using the different software e.g. webtv or something else.

You mean the WebTV that doesnt seem to work? ;-) (I admit to not having really tried to get it to work). Give me 2 mins and I'll see if I've got everything I had before....

Everything looks to be there (including WebTV). The menus/functions look no different.

You've got me worried now.....

I'll monitor it going forward and report back if I get any issues.

I don't mean to worry you . I'm just curious - that's all. With the F3/5 and F3S/5S the firmware could not be interchanged because although the boxes had similar names they were completely different with different hardware inside them. I assume the V8 and V8S must have the same hardware inside them but would have thought there must be an extra function or something different on one of them and logically the software would omit/affect the particular function. I'm only guessing on this but obviously having not owned any of these models then I don't really know the answer. It's interesting though .

Its not the firmware that is faulty with the clock, its the ways you guys are applying xmltv.

1.) Format your USB stick in PC (NTFS)
2.) Set EPG to Satelite and switch Summer time to ON (just get the time right) - normal now and next EPG at the moment
3.) Go to Network Apps and perform a download and switch on AUTO update
4.) Once download has taken place, switch EPG to XMLTV

Wallah, Full EPG with correct time settings!!! 100% WORKING

i've tried the above on two F5S boxes and i can confirm that it works, thanks amarjit.

if you don't do the above and just download the xmltv epg thro the normal epg menu then its an hour out.

Well, I've just tried it for the umpteenth time along with several others and the epg is still a hour out of sync. Are you telling me that if you check the epg on BBC1 at this very moment it tells you that Bargain Hunt is currently showing? And the news is on at !.00 pm as opposed to 2.00 pm on mine?

Is there anyway to know if I have a clone openbox v8s as I want to upgrade firmware but I don't want my box being "bomber" after 10 power one!!!!! Please help as I find the only fault with this box is the lack of EPG. Many thanks.

i did it last night and checked the epg with what was on at the time and it was correct.

the first time i downloaded the epg without doing the 4 steps as mentioned by amarjit, it was an hour out. After i followed the 4 steps the epg was correct with what was being shown on the box.

i am not at home but will check again later and update.
