    openbox v8s factory reset

I am thinking of doing a factor reset because all the channels have gone all over the place such as movies has asian channels and new has kids channels and therefore they are all under the wrong headings. If i was to do a factory reset would my server setting still be saved or will i need to add them in again.

    Thanks

Whenever I've done a factory reset, those setting mentioned have remained installed on the box, however, the safest way is to backup those setting using the 'dump to USB' option in the menu.

Or you could just rename the favourite categories via menu-favourite edit then yellow button.

You dont need to do a factory test. What you have done i probably loaded up different bouquets from your previous ones and hence the mess up.

hen you go to USB setup and on top it say image file...just come down a bit and where is says Yes, changed that to No....the go up to top top and change to misc file and then do upgrade. All chancels should be OK.....Just remember when you load channel up again use same bouquet provider ( AJ or Cwaites are best)

Could you please tell me what the default headings in the favourites are so i know if this would solve my problem or not and also will my channels be available after factory reset.

Sorry I don't know the default headings because I changed mine a long time ago to my personal preferences ie entertainment, sport, movies, kids etc etc

If I do a factory reset on my v5s I lose all my installed channels and have to install a new channel list or do a blind scan, this happens even if I mark nothing on the factory reset options.

you are sure that with v8s the channels won't go missing but the headings will be sorted out without leaving random ones and also the server setting will remain in place

What is meant to happen is, when you do a factory reset without selecting any factory reset options, is the favourite heading go from the default list to the new installed channel list headings and keep the channel list. However, on my box if I do this I lose the channel list and the heading revert back to default.

I don't know if this is a fault with my box or not, but I live with it by installing my backup channel list and manually renaming the favourite headings.

Would you say that if i was to backup then do the factory reset my server information would also be backed up and the channels will be back to normal like they were before installing a new channel list.

Yes, but your favourite headings will most probably still be messed up.

If your worried about the factory reset, then just delete all your channels, reboot, install a channel list, reboot, rename favourite headings and enjoy.

Hi When will people learn the truth about these boxes.. I am sure that they must be in the Guiness book of records for the number of times they break down.

                      Regards
