    Openbox V8s EPG auto update

I have set the XMLTV to auto update but i have noticed that it doesn't update anything i always end up doing it manually. can someone tell me whether this needs to be changed in the setting or whether everyone has the same issue.

The auto update is another pain in the arse feature of the openbox series, once you turn auto update on in the epg settings the box will update whenever you put the box into standby. However, if you turn the power off at the mains then this setting is somehow lost and needs to be reset in the epg settings ie auto update to off then back to on for it to work again.

Yep, reset the auto update as I described and when you put the box into standby at night the display will state 'EPG' with a moving segment to show updating. Don't turn the power off or you'll have to start all over again.

I still have the EPG Decompress Failed! Please check disk free volume showing when I try to update my xmltv,it has been the same for several months.

Is there some sort of fix that I have missed.

Yes, you need the latest firmware from skybox.cc to fix that problem

I have never done this before so am hoping I don't lose you know what.

I have dumped everything onto my usb,and transferred into a folder on laptop.

Do I now need to factory reset my box,or do I put this latest firmware onto my usb and update my box.

I will very much appreciate any advice/help that is offered

You will not loose any of your current settings or your channel lists everything will remain there and the firmware will be updated without you have having to factory reset

Make sure that "keeping DBS & settings" is set to YES before installing the new firmware.

As amit chauhan says, don't do a "factory settings" first. There's no need & it might muck up some of your current settings.
