I just got a skybox fs3 and was looking to purchase another but can't seem to find any. I did find this titled like:

I'm new to this and a bit confused by "replace skybox" so is openbox a replacement of skybox?

Yes S*ybox is the same as Openbox both cheap as chips........& you get what you pay for

A throw away box....that's cheap & nasty but does what it say's on the tin.....for as long as they last.

Thank you for clearing that up. Why is it a throw away box do they not last? What's wrong with them?

I was hoping if I keep the firm, channel list & what we can't talk about updated it should last right?

It should / will do but its a cheap box, all the components used are cheap. that's what makes the box cheap, if you have a bit more money
I would buy a Enigma2 box like the Zgemma but there are enigma2 boxes as well like the VU Solo, all depends how much money you want to spend.

will have a read on them. is it the same sorta maintenance with them firm & channel list updates?

i prefare to record and watch tv without the need for daily messing with box channels and epg,better enigma2 boxes work.

would you buy a car that has a battery fault and does not start every week?

bit of an exaggeration catkid you do not have to adjust skybox every day i have a f5s and yes the epg is not great i paid ?135 of fleabay with 12 months free **** that lasted 3 its a learning curve but had it over 2 years now and it has served me well. i think my skybox is great in the grand scheme of things you roll the dice and we dont know how long this gravey tain will last with card s***e

I still have one of the 1st F3 box (maybe 4 years old) & its still running

As other's have said
EPG = crap
components = crap
speed = crap
remote very slow working end up with sore fingers
people wounder why the picture glitches/freeze's/no signal most blame it on you know what or firmware
but its not the reason = the box very slow

All that said with the link to the post above of dead boxes.....you pay your cash & takes your chance

or spend an extra ?20 -30 get a better box or ?40 - 50 & get a combo box I/e Sat & Cable.....then if the Sat side goes dark you are still setup
to get what you want

We call tell you to buy this or that but you have to maintain it...which ever box you buy

a box with now and next epg did my head in as you cant plan ahead,and you will say to yourself i will upgrade in 6 months time.going for a better one at the start would be a better choice?

I just got the fs3 from a family member that wasn't using it, it was very cheap I don't really mind if it breaks.

If purchased Zgemma-Star 2S what needs to be done to it? Could you guys link me.
