openbox no signal but dish ok

Ok here goes apologies for the longwinded post.

Got the box this morning and disconnected the sat coax from the HD box and plugged into the openbox, Did a search and it found loads no problem, Viewed the odd one or two and then decided to just search for FTA channels as it was a pain to delete the scrambled ones, Did another search but it came up with no program found [or something like that] so ok tried again, nothing, Did a reset tried again, nothing, Did an update with the wireless adapter provided it went through the cycle fine then tried again, nothing, Swapped over coax cable but this time it found some [yesterday/really] but in the found list it was coming up all failed ? But since then i get nothing again and after some googling i did the USB channel update but yep you guessed it........nowt....

I have put the coax back in the HD box and gone into setting and signal and both are bouncing between 90 and 100% so obviously the dish is aligned.

The openbox if i go into antenna installation the signal and quality is just 33 and 10% BUT its the same with no dish connected.

Its an v8s is it faulty and should i send it back or am i doing something wrong ?

Something i will point out is i did have multiscreen with "them" and the dish has either 6 or 8 outputs [cant remember exactly] which was providing signal to 3 HD boxs one in the living room and 2 bedrooms, I have though disconnected the cables from the back of the other boxs so only one cable was connected to the LNB at any time from the openbox, I have also taken the open box into the bedrooms and tried the coax there too with same results.

    Thanks

Just too add i have been pulling my hair out with this and my theory is the box MUST be faulty, Signal on the Sky HD box almost 100%, There is voltage on the LNB input on the openbox changes slightly between H and V but no signal at all on any frequency, I think i will just have to send it back and get a refund, Its frustrating that it worked once then nothing!!

Disconnect any official Sky receivers from your LNB and then try the Openbox connected on its own

I have tried every cable from each box into the back of the openbox one at a time starting with the two in the living room, two in one bedroom and two in another bedroom and every one out of the six show no signal, But the signal on an HD box on every cable shows between 95 to 100%.

I have heard there is a specific LNB supplied by $ky that dont like open boxs ?DSC00429.JPGDSC00433.JPG

When you have tried the box on every cable feed are all the other boxes disconnected at this time?

make sure in your setting is set to 9750 / 10600

          Also see here.....http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...cy-Openbox-S10

Yes mate i have tried every cable individually [all 6] with all the boxs disconnected so basically i had 6 loose cables and tried one after the other, I double checked each one didnt have any stray braid shorting out too, Only things left really is A: get my mate to bring his box up so i can try it, B: Take my box to his house, If A works then i will safely assume the box is faulty [tuner or whatever].

As you can see from the images i posted above UNIVERSAL 9750 10600 and the $ky HD box has good signal whereas the openbox with no signal and all i did was swap the $ky box cable over to openbox

I read somewhere there is a particular LNB these boxs dont like [OCTO] and i also read OCTO LNBs are ok to use so i am a bit confused there, This is such hair pulling stuff i am so disappointed by it and may just dump the box in the bin and stick with streaming.

What voltages were you actually getting?

You should see around 14v on vertical & 19v on horizontal.

While moving your box around, you didn't accidentally screw the LNB into the loop socket did you?

I was using my analogue meter at the time and just noticed really there was voltage and a slight dip between H and V but i do recall it being around that amount, I have not once plugged the coax into the loop i made sure of that, Could connecting the coax to the loop cause damage or are you asking just incase i have it in the wrong one.

I do not have access to the box right now but i can check the voltages again with my digital meter [fluke] later if you like.

                Cheers

Plugging the LNB cable in the LOOP connector won't cause any damage. I only asked because it's very easy to accidentally plug the LNB cable into the wrong socket, as most other sat boxes have the outer connector as the LNB socket.

If you got something close to the voltages mentioned above, then that's probably OK.

Because the openbox worked once for a few minutes but now dosn't and i have a good signal on the $ky hd box but no signal at all on the openbox would you also assume the box is indeed faulty and send it back ?

I did an update on the box so i would imagine it being the latest, I remember the OPENBOX_V8S_3511HD_CMT bit but not the date, I will put in a return request on eBay and send it back.

Just an update, I have not sent the box back yet as the seller has not yet responded to the return request but i bought another from a different seller and that arrived a few minutes ago, I set it up in the bedroom and with the one cable [with good signal] in the openbox it had no signal, The other cable [which also has good signal] works fine in the open box, I have not tried it on the other cables in the other rooms yet but it goes to show these boxs are just plain barmy how they can work and not work regardless of how good the signal is ??

                          Edit:
I took a dump by USB [sounds awful] from the new openbox and upgraded by USB to the first one and first one then had exact same settings and still no signal so it is definitely a brick.
