    Minimum internet speed

    Hi
As the title what is the recommended minimum Internet speed I currently have about 6 meg wired. How well do these boxes perform wireless? Do I need a special wirles dongle thing or will one for a computer/ laptop do? If the later is ok how do I load the software drivers?

6 mb easily fast enough, wireless dongles can be problematic for best results use home plugs if possible. If you have to use a wireless dongle get the ones made for the openbox just search the bay plenty of them on there, if you get one that's made for the openbox then the drivers are part of the firmware.

You would only need that speed on an openbox if you had the v8s and wanted to stream online HD content via the boxes WebTV feature.

The Skybox & Openbox boxes are only compatible with dongles that use the Ralink RT5370 chipset.

I have used this tiny one with no problems http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3213882333...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

My router is at the front of the house & the box is at the rear of the house. It worked perfectly for me, even though it doesn't have the massive aerial attached to it like the official ones have.

I tether my phone for Wi fi to box it can pick it up through 2 walls outside and still works ok. As for speed they use a miniscule amount of data so 6 meg is more than enough all your doing is keeping it connected, like a bridge if you like

I got v8 so same really you don't need any special dangle ,all this 2 chip talk is nonsense. You can get them online or maybe even maplins, it's just usb with aerial on it don't try it but it would probably work if you stuck a coat hanger in it .

As long as your router is Wi fi as well it would be no problem just go network setting, click Wi fi box will probably reboot, then down one to Wi fi manager click then you will see a list of available servers, pick yours, enter password it will connect, if you need any further help message me. Hope it goes ok

It's connected at 6 meg so my issue must be server related thanks
