    1. What budget have you got for a new box?
    2. Do you want satellite and cable combo box? this will give you the best of both world or just a twin tuner satellite box for recording?
    3. Are you willing to learn? as the next step up boxes run a linux firmware which can be a steep learning curve for some in the beginning to setup.

      1. Around ?150-200?
      2. Probably a twin tuner, Never looked into a satellite n cable combo box
      3. Def willing to learn and reckon I could manage with a push in the right direction

        OK points 1. and 2. same answer, look at the following all dual sat boxes running enigma 2 linux firmware;
        Cheap/Entry level Box
        Zgemma 2s @ ?60 - 70 from the bay

        Med Range box
Edision OS mini x2 @ ?99 from WOS

        Higher end Box
        Xtrend ET8000 @ ?159 from WOS

If however, you're in a cable area, I would consider instead of getting dual sat tuners, getting either 1x sat and 1x cable or pay a bit more and get a triple or quad setup this should give you some future proofing, this is my opinion, other will have theirs.

It's a learn curve to setup an e2 linux box but once setup most of the maintenance can be done automatically by the box. There's plenty of guides on this forum and others which will assist you and if you run into any problems there's plenty of members on here who have these boxes willing to help, so it's just a matter of post problems on the forum.

The Xtrend ET800 is this available for both sat and cable?

Id rather spend the bit extra for something that's gonna last. Looking on WOS what enigma 2 firmware would you recommend?

The xtrend et8000 is a triple tuner receiver, so you have the options of whatever sat & cable tuner combos you want when you purchase the box.

As to which firmware both Openatv and Openvix are well supported on the xtrend, either will do, in fact why not follow the various guides available and try both.

The same can be said of the Gigablue box recommend by maca with the added bonus of quite a few members on DK are owners or have owned one, so plenty of people to assist with any problems you might come across.

Thanks again for the great answers after some reading up on the Xtrend and the gigablue, is it worth paying the little extra for the gigablue.

Looking for the best picture I can get from the box and also fancying both a sat/cable combo set up.

Martin I see your in fife do you know anywhere local that stocks these boxes to have a look at as I'm dundee
