Newbie who's stuck please help

Hi guys, I currently have 2 Openbox v5s running and everything was going swimmingly but yesterday I had the "no signal" image come up on various channels and after scouring various forums and thinking about buying a "no signal fix" I'm not sure if this will help
I have unplugged 1 box to see if that cures it but it doesn't, I have also looked at the types of channels that are missing and it isn't just all Horizontal or all Vertical it's a mix of both
My signal seems OK as I hooked up my real sky box to test and that is showing fine but on the openboxes it is showing 54% on channels that work and 8-10% on the ones that aren't

I'm going round in circles a bit not helped by my lack of any technological know how so any input would be great thanks especially as it's nearly time for game of thrones to start and I think the wife may divorce me if we miss it

I hope you don't have the official box connected....If you do this is more than likely the problem

Are you sure it say NO SIGNAL or is it SCRAMBLED ? 2 different things people get these mixed up

Then we can move on to the next satge

or Try one box on one feed see if it works ok....If yes try the 2nd box on the same feed to see if that ones ok

this will narrow the fault

Forget the signal strength on the S*y box the tuners are better so you will get a false reading

Thanks for getting back to me, no I don't have the s*y box connected it was just to check the lnb really
But I have tried disconnecting one of my openboxes and this is not making any difference also it is the same channels on both boxes that have gone to no signal
And it's deffo no signal and not scrambled

So that now leaves us with 3 options
a break in the cable
LNB faulty or the cable lose at the connection to the LNB
dish moved

When you say the box disconnected you mean all cables removed or just switched off ?

when was the channel list updated last ?
what firmware on the box ?

Disconnected as in all of the wires are out even the hd lead all that's in it is the rf in and out I think it's called (the one that's like an old analogue/digital cable) and that is because the house is on some kind of loop to take standard digital tv to all rooms

I know it all sounds bit vague but I only just bought the house about 2 months ago so still trying to fathom everything out

As for a break in the cable/lnb prob the wires from the lnb were only connected in the last month as it wouldn't work when we 1st got in so had a cable guy look at it so should be ok

Unsure on the firmware or channel list I tried it via network direct on 1 of the boxes tonight and it didn't seem to matter but I have only had both boxes 1 month too so seems strange especially as it's the same channels on both and they some are there sometimes just with a really poor broken picture

When you connect the box = nothing in the loop slot if you don't know how the house is wired....use just one feed for the dish to one of the boxes

As PD says plus try a new channel list if both boxes are missing the same channels.

I had the same problem with missing channels and update channel list from AJ's and all was fine.

Ok so today's update

I did a firmware update and a channel list update..... Still the same

What is so baffling to me is that if it was a cable or the lnb then surely I wouldn't get anything for example
Sly sports 1, 3,4 & news say no signal (these are all horizontal channels)
Sly sports 2 & 5 are fine (2 is vertical and 5 is horizontal)

So now I'm even more bewildered

If you updated the channel list with the latest ...

Try both make sure you delete the old list off the box reboot then install the new one
if you try both & still the same......get the dish checked

did you buy both boxes from the same seller ?
id so could be 2 faulty boxes.....big odd's but can happen

Yeah I deleted the old list and used AJs list to update
Boxes were off 2 totally different sellers

I have someone coming to have a look at the dish on Saturday so we shall see if that sheds any light on things fingers crossed

try connecting the second box through the loop output from first and see if that helps.

So I finally got the s@y man out who said signal is fine from dish as are the wires, but I have even tried another Openbox of a friends and the same thing happened
So I am totally at a loss but thanks again for all the suggestions
