new v8s wont connect to web

so i have a new ,v8s brand new out of box, i cant get it to open channels on a ****** either on wifi dongle or ethernet or to upgrade by network.
i have a v5s and it works fine on the ***** so i know its not the internet or ***** problems in fact i just switch box over with same connections so it sort of rules that out hopefully.

this is my second v8s in a week and had same problem with the other one, its like its not getting Internet, i have checked that whichever interface im using its active.

am i missing any obvious in the set up

Update

i have tried to update firmware from the downloads section on here via usb stick on front usb port and it won't even recognise file , i know stick is ok cos i only updated my 2 other v5s boxes last week with it.

If you just switched the boxes over and didn't use the PSU that came with your V8S you'll have problems!
