skybox F5 scrambling when searching for satelelitte channels

Hi guys I wounder if anyone can help please I had problems with my firmware even ended up with a dead box. I managed to get it back working but when I do a single satelitte search I enter 28.2 then search it starts for around 5 secs after around 4 channels it just freezes and pixulates and locks up. I have tried it on another dish with the same result. But if I dont connect the dish cable it seems ok ????? I have installed older firmware and then reinstalled latest I have done a factory reset and then latest firmware ???????? Pulling my hair out here and at 71 I dont have that much . So I would be grateful for any help. (and if I have contravened any rules about where I have posted this I apologise )

do you really need all the hassle with upgrading firmware? why not just order a new openbox v8s with the latest firmware which allows you to update channel lists over the network.
Just a thought to make things easier for you, these older boxes are becoming more problematic as the days go on

Thanks for answering Gary thing is mate being retired and having nothing to do this became a challenge and with getting so far and then having this hiccup is bugging me . Also I know the F8 are cheap but my pension only goes so far and I can no longer ask for a bit of overtime if I am short . Now and don't take me wrong here it's just tongue in the cheek stuff ,but if you are awash with money I'll gladly accept a free F8 from you as a gesture of goodwill on your part ha ha
