New and after some advice guys.

    Hi guys,

I'm new to all this and just after some advice if possible please and I may sound thick how this comes across.

We currently have sky and are looking to cancel this and either get either a v8s or zgemma box to save costs.

Firstly I have looked on online and see the v8s boxes with ****** for around ?70-80, would this need to be manually updated or is this automatically done?

Secondly I have come across a closed fb page and enquired about a box, now the guy says he doesn't do v8s boxes as there going to be stopping channel updates on these soon, is this true? He only does zgemma boxes all setup for ?160 or ?200 with the iptv included then the *************
I am grateful for any advice on these boxes and thank you in advance guys

Openbox is a receiver that just about does the job, it has a single tuner so no record one channel watch another, the epg is poor as is the user experience and channel updates have to be done manual but for around ?35 you get what you pay for and ?70 - ?80 is a rip off.

Zgemma is a good entry level receiver, it comes in many types ie single or twin tuners so it can record one channel watch/stream another. Setting up the box can be tricky for the novice but follow the guides/backup images on this forum and you'll have a receiver with a better user experience, better epg and requires little maintenance all for the price of ?65 and again ?160-?200 is a rip off.

iptv on a zgemma is poor, your better buying an android box or Amazon Fire stick and install kodi on it.

Both zgemma and openbox won't show premium HD channels on satellite anymore.

      Hi Martin.

Thanks for the reply. I thought the guy with the zgemma was charging too much but with being a novice I didn't know the going rates. If I were to get my own box an set this up myself, would I get all the channels??

We have a kodi box so I take it we wouldn't need the iptv then.

      Thanks in advance.

I personally wouldnt use kodi as my main tv, i use kodi for films. As for openbox if i were you i would get a v8s box as the zegmma is quite hard too set up, the v8s boxes are on amazon for ?38 and come just as plug and play all set up. You would then just need the thing you cannot talk about on here. Mine works outs about ?4 a month for every channel. But not hd only hd ones you get are the free like itv etcetc.

The Zgemma box will be a bit daunting to someone new to enigma if they are trying to set it up from a base image. That's why members such as martin035 have done all the hard work & uploaded backup images tweaked & ready to go for UK $ky viewing. Once you have this on your box, the only thing that needs a bit of thought is how to add the piece of magic to clear certain channels.

Unlike the openbox/skybox, there will be no need to constantly manually update the EPG & channel lists, as these are updated automatically on the Zgemma.
