    No Signal - sporadic

    Hi all

I've got an openbox V8S, as does a mate. His has started to lose certain channels particularly at 7pm onwards and sporadically. It will say no signal then work at other times.

I've given him my box and his is working perfectly at mine, however he's having the same issues with mine in his own. Both have recently had scans and channel updates and the servers are sound (2 different servers to).

Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I believe others maybe having this problem, but just weird they both work at mine but not at his. He's with sky internet (as am I).

    Thanks.

So both boxes work perfect in your house but both boxes have problems in your mates house, sounds to me like your mate has a problem with his dish or cabling ie dish misaligned, LNB faulty or damage to the cables

I thought that but his actual sky box is fine and it works now and again. Usually goes to no signal at 7 ish.

Tell him to disconnect the sky dish cable from this genuine sky box and just connect his v8s and see if that makes any difference.

Sounds like some kind of local interferance. Are there any timers in the house that are set to come on at 7pm, such as central heating?

Also, does he have a cordless phone base unit near the box? They have been known to swamp the boxes with RF.

Genuine $ly boxes are built to a much higher standard than openboxes. They are probably better shielded, so less prone to outside interferance.
