    signal problem ???

i have a V8s and when i connect it to my dish all works ok, if i put it on a friends dish all works ok if i connect it to the dish that was fitted at my sons house last week i just get about 10% signal, on his genuine sky + box it shows a signal strength of about 95% and the picture is crystal clear, i have tried both of the leads from the dish into the V8s and get the same 10% on both but both of them work superb if connected to the original sky box ?? i have been told that i need to put one into the lnb input and the other into the loop socket for it to work correct ????, i have never used the loop socket before have things changed with new dishes that you need to have both leads active for the lab to work ?? hope some one can help as i am at a loss with what i can do to get it working.

You dont put any feed into the Loop Out port just as you rightly stated in the LNB In. If your son has had a brand new install officially done by Sky then if he has a Sky Q box then he also has the wideband LNB which will not work with any other receiver apart from the official one

As Digicon has said though has he got sky q box? If he has the lnb won't work. If not then as you stated picture is crystal and signal is excellent so lnb voltage would seem to be the problem then. hth

If your son doesn't have a Sky Q LNB, but has a normal quad LNB, does he have another satellite box connected somewhere else in the house? If so, the other box might cause channels on vertical transponders on the V8 to get no signal. Did you try a few random channels, including some on horizontal transponders? The information under the channel name when you first change channels gives you the transponder frequency & shows V or H for transponder polarisation.

If he does have another box connected to the same LNB, then try disconnecting the LNB feeds to it & try the V8 again. If the V8 then works, then you need the "no signal fix" from ebay:-
