Openbox S9 Remote Trouble

Hi all..

My next door neighbour has an Openbox S9 HD box.
All of a sudden yesterday his remote stopped working.

So he powered down the box by removing the power plug from the wall and then powered the box back up again. He now this displayed on the screen.

No OSD Show, Press V.Format Key to Switch.

Just one problem. The remote does not do anything. He thought the batteries were gone in the remote so the batteries were changed..

Any help would be greatly appreicated.

is it sending a signal? point it at the camera on his phone and press a button on the remote, you should see a light at the sensor.
