Can someone please explain to me in a very very technical way what exactly the timebomb is. I already understand how to check for it, what images do / dont have it "for the most part atleast".

What im looking for is exactly how it works. There are a million and one posts about it but nothing i can seem to find says how / what was done to make the clones break.

easiest way to explain is do not use any gemini image if your not sure that your box is genuine,some images of these say bomb free but i have known these bomb free images to make clones mess up,safest way is use pli jade3 image
i would never entertain using gemini on any box..

This timebomb scare as i understand it from other forums was years ago and involved Gemini 4.3.1 and dm500 not the latest dm800 and sim 2.01.Any new modified gemini 5.1 is very safe.Also most of the other images are memory hungry eye candy and cause green screen.Stay with gemini it still is the most popular image according to polls.

it was a piece of code injected into the image to check to see if the dreambox was original or not caught a lot of people too

Reading more since my last post it only happened to early dm500 boxes there as been no cases where dm800 boxes and newer on new firmware have ever been affected by gemini timebomb cannot happen.

the clone bomb / time bomb only ever effected DM500's receivers. it was a small piece of code that was injected into the image to check if the box was original or not, those that failed the check had their bootloader corrupted.

personally i have never had a problem with gemini images. i used a gemini image on my original dm7020 for over 8 years and never once had a problem.

A lot of new images are memory hungry eye csndy.Most just have a fancy boot screen and are overloaded with appz users could download and use if they wanted,but are pre installed into limited memory space causing green screen.Simple gemini 5.1 the best is all you need.It still remains most popular image in forum polls.

Can someone please explain to me in a very very technical way what exactly the timebomb is.

If you need it in "very very technical" terms then you shouldn't be asking here as someone with your uBer skills would already know how the time bomb works.

Obviously the images checks for some faked/cloned/false code either in SW or HD then activates the bomb - corrupts the firmware.
