    internal sharing

    Hi Guys,
just a quickie. I am sharing S*Y internally at the moment I have it running in three rooms. Within the network is my super hub (vermin) 50mb. I am having trouble with this at the moment and it is resetting all the time. I then get a freeze on all three boxes. I am assuming its because the hub going offline and needs a restart to get it up again.
Again I am assuming I dont need internet for internal sharing so if I connect all three boxes through a switch it should still work? Could anyone confirm my theories please thanks.

i think you will find that talk of sharing is not permitted on this site be it internal or not. i my self got a slagging off for trying to help some one with a physical card splitter under the same rule.

To be honest we do not allow CS discussion to a certain technical level.

But the OP's query although relating to his internal CS problems, is not really an in-depth CS topic. It is more to do with his internal LAN and the problems that many have with VM hubs of late.

People see CS and assume the answer will mean having to answer it is a certain way that will conflict with our rules. The question could have been formulating in such a way to omit CS altogether, (even though this is borderline at best).

If there are any threads/posts that seem to not adhere to our rules please use the report button and they can be moderated.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer. - Douglas Adams

To the OP - Purchase a network Switch (ranging from ?15 to a lot more).

Use this as a "Break Out" box from your router - so you'll have router connected to switch, switch connected to each Dreambox.

This way, if router goes down the dreamboxes can still communicate with each other.

Here's one that will do the job.

                  Thanks guys,
I am buying a 8 port switch 10 quid off of fleabay and ensuring all my intranet goes thru that then just connecting my crappy superhub to that. Again thanks for all the input. Vermin coming again tomorrow to try to resolve ongoing hub problems. I may ditch em asI dont use em for anything except b/band now. Am looking into bt fibre. Any views?

I think Virgin BB is probably the most reliable but I would be inclined to get the super hub changed for a normal modem and then get your own hub.

I'm getting infinitard installed on the 18th, my neighbors connection looks promising, but they come with BTFON enabled by default (Shares your connection over free wifi) - but it's an opt-out after you receive the hub.

Vermin are a bunch of tards when you can't get cable in your area, totally worthless.
