    Dreambox does not receive internet

    Hi All,

I have a dreambox works fine a my home, but when i take it to my friend home, it give the ip address but does not give the scrambled channels. Then I go to Software update -> internet update. It say can't relsove the hostname. Same ethernet wire works in laptop fine.

    I am using Pli image.

Please help me resolve this problem.

    Cheers

Still a newbie, but from what i have read, you need a fixed IP address. Your friends home net IP will differ from your own home.

could be to do with server owner running oscam and entered your ip into the user accounts

if thats not the case have you tried plugging directly to the modem ?

cant see it being an image problem if it works elsewhere
      but a reflash wouldnt hurt

it should work anywhere regardless of the ip adress unless the router is blocking it
        dm500hd -dm500hd v2-vu+duo- triax 1.1m - inverto lnb - technomate 2300 motor- linksys ddwrt router

He might have his box configured with a static ip address which means that its not going to connect to the internet at his friends house. The problem could be made worse if his friend is not with the same provider as himself as all his intenet settings will be different.

Just try turning on dhcp in dreambox. Should grab its own I.p address then

Have you tried basic things like pinging the box from a laptop/desktop connected to the same network then maybe using to DCC to see if DCC can see the box?
