Technomate DM3000d Vs Dreambox clone 500s

long time lurker to these pages, looking for a bit of advice really.

My folks are looking to get a triple (non motor using a dysec switch) satellite setup installed,to basically pick up 13E, 19E and 28 to pick up freesat (and potentially other stuff currently being broadcasted...)

The installer is suggesting the technomate, I'm keener on a dreambox, which he can still supply, but doesn't rate the clones and their reliability

    The questions I have are:

    1) Will a 500s work ok with dysec switch as opposed to a motorised system

    2) Do the technomates have the same capability as the 500s and do they run similar to neutrino images? Since the old Dbox2/500C days, my parents never got their head around enigma/ITgates/kryptview, so I'm wary of giving them something new to fail to understand.

    3) Is it just me, or is there not much of a scene to the technomates?

    4) I never had a problem with 500c clones before, but I was wondering if the quality had dimininshed in the last couple of years that I should go with his suggestion or stick to my guns?

    Thanks in advance

Go with the Dreambox, TM dont come close to anything in the DM "scene" clone Dm500s are fine I have 2, also purchased 5 for friends and family all working fine 2 years later. The amount of images, plugins, user support forums etc etc...is better than most other recievers.

Im not familiar with that model of TM im guessing it's closed source nonlinux. Which means your stuck with the image it comes with. The TM linux models are TM500/600 and 800HD...software support is very poor though, cant be compared with Dreambox original or clones

Told the guy I wanted the dreambox - really tried hard to convince me otherwise. As he said 'customer knows best'.

      Thanks for the advice.
