Do you know how to use command prompt?
Type cmd in run press enter, and type in ipconfig/all hit enter and hopefully will bring it up,

usually the routers username/password is printed on the bottom or try here h**p://portforward.com/ theres a list of routers you may find more info there.

You didnt say what box you have but go into network settings try 192.168.1.250 as ip for Dreambox and 192.168.1.254 as gateway and nameserver.
Try 255.255.255.0 as netmask and have dhcp disabled or no and boot the box and see if you have a connection.

                Andy.

If you choose to have dhcp disabled you can make up your own Dreambox ip providing it resembles the routers ip barring the last digits.
                    Stops any ip conflicts.
Another option is to enable dhcp and let the network set automatically but a static ip is easier to work with,
Check my network, look how the ip of the Dreambox resembles the gateway(router) barring the last digits,

Can you not connect to my laptop and do this for me Please?
We try and help anyone mate, but these boxes are not plug and play and the best way to learn is to do it yourself with some help.
If you tell us what box you have thats a start, lookat the picture ive added in earlier post this might help you understand a bit more.
Once the network has been connected you can download and do a few other things.
I take it you have a ethernet cable going from router to dreambox?

                        Andy.

Andy i think my main problem is with the ASUS as i choose to use it as an adapter from the options and when i say connect it just never connects to wireless !!!!!

                          Sorry Andy

when i connect the dreambox to router via ethernet it works no problem.

i am trying to connect my dreambox to router via portable wireless point, the problem i having is that portable wireless point is not connecting to router for some reason. Portable wireless access i am using is ASUS-330gE

                          Thanks

                            You mean a homeplug?
Normally dont to do anything but plug them in and all ok.

                              Andy,
I am sure you need to set it up so it connects to your wireless router once you attach to dreambox. I did try to set it up but no luck it is just not connecting for some reason.
