DM 500 HD or DM 800 HD SE or VU+

    Hello All,

I am definitely going to buy a HD box this week... Dont know which one to buy..??

I want it to have a good EPG. work well with CCcam, be able to pause live TV, and good record facility... Easy enough for the wife to use as well?

Let me know your thoughts, as I have to spend this money before my wife gets her hands on it!!!

Or is it worth going for the DM 8000 Clone??? HHHEELLLPPPP!!!!!

Pro's and cons of each of the boxes...??

Is the VU+ Duo good enough to dish the Sly box altogether... I know it will never be up there along side it, but can it do the recording , pause live tv etc?

      Thanks.

sly box will be shite in comparison mate. if you want to replace the sly box and want the same features ....the duo is the way to go.

Mate, don't rule out the XTrend 9000. Better spec slightly than the VU Duo, runs the Vix image which is great and allows picture in picture with the twin tuners. I almost got the VU Duo, but changed mind at the last second and happy I did. If you look at world of satellite it's where I got mine from, good support on their forum too

some clones may have issues overheating or bad tuners,if you buy from china and it gets a fault, how long might the wait be?
i like my vu+duo, think one of the admin here had same issue vu or xtrend rd said the xtrend is better as its a newer model.

the only difference between them is xtrend has the pip and loopthrough.

i nearly got the xtrend (also known as clarke tech et9000) then i decided i didn't need a twin tuner and so i bought 2 receivers for slightly less money. mrs has her dm800hd pro and i have mine dm800se. sorted.

The xtrend has a slightly faster processor too, I think 400mhz vs 300mhz for the duo. It's not cheap, but as my main box very happy.

Also got dm800hd pro upstairs...it's noisy and slow in comparison..recently added the dm800se and as a single tuner is very good..quiet and fast when compared to the dm800

The DM8000 is a superior hardware spec to both the DUO and the Extrend.
Has support for Quad tuners, internal DVD drive, etc.. The only clones of the 8000 are Ferarri team products. Not sure how good the support and images are from them.

                              Yeah that is my quandry!?!

It could be ?375 for clone DM 8000 or ?335 for the VU+ Duo or Extrend 9000....

I was originally going to go for the DM800 SE but now I know it is as good as -- if not better than a sly box, it is a winner to go for the VU+ Duo....

What is the support like for the Extrend?

                              Thanks.
