New to dreambox's and want advice.
What to buy? do I just need the box?

Lots of different boxes are available question is what are you after and what is your budget.

A 1m motorised dish and dreambox dm500s will probably cost you ?200.You will need an installer possibly a ?100 unless you are prepared to climb up the ladder and set up the dish. If all you want is S*y tv than you may want to think about taking out subscription and you have cable in your area than go for cable. If you are just after the free tv than take the easy option as he satellite scene and dreambox are really for the enthusiast and you would need to put some effort in initially to get it all configured and working.

And to further Curious123 realy good reply I would go as far as saying to you what ever your choice Cable or Satellite, Its better to future proof yourself, do not buy yourself a receiver that is unlikely to run new encryptions as some big name receivers will not handel even new official Subscription cards such as Nagra3.

Buy Linux base receiver if as all possable.
