help with eagle1000 please

    help with eagle1000 please

    my mates asked me to look at his eagle1000 whats happened is its stuck on the start up just shows the gp sign and nothing else happens ive got a dm500s myself and sort of no what im doing but i had an old laptop with a serial port on it and it broke so now im using a laptop which doesnt have a rs232 port so i purchased a usb to rs232 off fleabay ive connected it to my laptop but its not connecting to the eaglebox i am using dreamup cos i was told thes are just a copy of the dm500s any help would be appreciated on just trying to get the box on thanks.....

    have you installed the sftware for usb to serial?

      Hi

      Thats right eagle is just like the dm500s. as said above regarding the usb to serial needs the drivers loaded up and even then its a bit of hard work to get it going properly.

      What operating system are you using.

        Just take it to a location that has a Serial port
        Eagle is like said , a poor mans 500
        But just as good

          im using xp ive installed drivers for the usb to rs232 correctly and ive used different dreamup versions when i open dreamup i press connect then plugged box in nothing happens do i need to have the null cable and a crossover network cable in or just null i havent done one for a while so im propa struggling

            thanks paul i havent do one for a while so im struggling a little bit ive used different versions of dreamup but still nothing do u think i could have purchased a dodgy usb to rs232 cable off fleabay its driving me mad now just need it sorting

              USB 2.0 to RS232 Serial DB9 9 Pin adapter | eBay

              this is the usb to rs232 i purchased is this the right one

                Hi

                These usb to serial are more hit and miss types thats why Paul quite rightly suggested to use pc/laptop with a dedicated serial port.

                Are you selecting correct com port.

                  hi mast its only giving me the 1 port to connect which is port 3 im gona have to try and get a laptop or desktop pc with serial portnto do it thanks for ur help guys much appreciated

                    Cant remember exactly but I think you can change the com port for the serial lead in device manager.

                    Try another version of dreamup.

                    Best way is the dedicated serial port route.

                      please make sure u r using right nullmodem cable, between your laptop and box. nullmodem is not same with serial cable. nullmodem is cross conection between pin with it other end.
