    motorised setup help

am having a nightmare of a time setting up a motorised system ive had it all working but then it all went dead so i pulled it down and tested it with a small cable and nothing happened no led on the motor

a few days later i went back to it and it now powers up fine but am not gettig a signal. so I have wired the lnb directly to the box and still no signal if i add the motor the led lights up and i am able to move it but no signal i have replaced the lnd and still no luck

    I have a DM800HD PVR

it all works when connect to a fixed sly HD dish

could it be the cable lenth? thats the only thing i can think of but then why was it working in the first place.

am really lost now any elp would be great

    thanks for your time

The motor gets power from you're box.
If you have tested the box on another dish it rules out the box so its either you're connections or the motor.
I would try the connections again or try a short length of cable and see if the motor lights up.
Long lengths dont help but how long is it from the dish to the box?
On some images theres an option to amplify the power setting which might sort it.
If you look at the picture of my tuner settings you can see where it says Tone Amptitude 800mv.
This can be changed from 600 to 1200 and im sure it has something to do with giving the motor more power.

One other thing you only have to be out my a nats cock to get no signal.

    Andy.

cable goes over the roof its a realy long lenth.

but if its a power issue when wired straight to the lnb shouldnt it work. as when its wired to the motor the motor powerd on fine and can be moved via the dm800

am really stuck a job hat shoul of taken a day is taking weeks i would love to get this sorted before christmas

      and thanks for replying

Personally i think the dish is out of line.
Like i said it doesnt take much to throw it out.
Last boxing day was up a ladder tweeking my lnb without a meter on the end of a mobile i couldnt believe moving the dish a millimetre lost me everything.
I would try and start again with a meter or get someone in, will take them minutes with a meter if the pole is plumb.

hey bud, make sure that your f connectors are connected on properly!

in hindsight, looking back to when i setup my motorised dish,
i didn't connect the f connectors properly which obviously caused a problem with the signal,
so i was giving the motor some power,
but wasnt getting enough signal to lock onto any satellites,
hence i got the motor to move but not much signal, so i was a bit baffled

i assumed that the cooper wiring thats on the outside could be cut off, but i was obviously wrong,
that needs to be left on and pushed back with the f connector pushed over it, if that makes sense!

i used the tryed and tested pigtail method ith the f connectors i did have a crimper that i got when i did the cables for my itgate box (cable box) but i cant remember who i lent it to

but i think am going to take a fresh look at it tomorrow and make sure i calculated every thing right as am not too sure about the offset angle

and if that doesnt work then ill just run a new cable but put it through the wall and route it round rather than trowing it over the roof.

but thanks for the help guys

and if all that fails ill go with the hammer

i do look back on it and laugh,
but at the time, it didnt half p*ss me off!
