    First setup - parts list

    Hi guys,

Been looking at peoples reviews and asking questions and ive came up with the following parts list for my first satellite setup.

DM500HD with Ferrari sim - ?165 from ukdreamshop
    TriaxTD78 80cm dish - ?32 from Tradeworks.tv (local supplier)
    Technomate TM2600 motor - ?40 from eBay
Inverto black ultra 0.2db Quad lnb - ?30 from eBay

All in it will cost around ?270. What do you guys think?

    Cheers

am wondering why you went for 500hd over 800 se?
    Fave replies from various threads

1: What the fff is all that about??? All that crap below your reply I mean, get a life mate
2: no info on google abt the pace sv5 rang asda they have no idea what i was talking about,
3: Your total contribution to this forum, bordering on trolling, seems to have been a collection of snipes, one liners & asterisked expletives

To be honerst it was down to cost, as I was looking on ukdreamshop but satfooldeals has the 800 Se on for ?165 or ?180 but I don't understand what the difference between the two are. If the ?165 one is okay then I'll go for that. Is the 800se that much better than the 500hd?

      Thanks

change the dm500hd ferrari for a dm800hdse sim2 and your list is fine. if you can manage it then go for the td88 for a bit better rain fade margin. if this is your first system and you are after footy/movies/xxx then maybe a gift type box would suite you better as a linux stb, softcams, sea lions/cards/emulators can be difficult at first although linux is the way forward and is perfect for people who like to mess with/tweak their system. regards mdt

Mate if cash is your worry then have you considered ordering direct from China? You will save yourself 50quid on them prices. I would go with a DM800hd over a 500hd mate, but a DM800se over both of them.

Def go for bigger dish, and maybe dark motor.
                  Forget the dm500hd.
If you dont need linux try openbox for ?55.

Thanks guys, how could I forget the brackets and pole...

I'm a tad confused now. If I go for a dreambox, I'd go for the dm800se now after people's advice, but there has been suggestion of openbox and spiderbox. My understanding is that spiderbox has a gift for 12 months which allows access to channels and then after that date you can use te box for that subject you can't talk about.

My understanding is that openbox does not use such gift but can also be used for c/s. dreambox is the same as openbox (although is much more customisable)

Really I want to watch sports channels (3pm) and occasional movies, so c/s is my only option.

Question is for my first box do I spend a lump of cash on a dreambox, spend slightly less on a spiderbox then after a year use c/s, or go for a cheap openbox and go straight for c/s?

As you can tell I'm a noob, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

                    Thanks again.
