Linux Box on Ebay - Please Help!

I was thinking about buying this box on ebay, the seller reckons it can be flashed with Cammando and its a fully functional linux box? Would this be a sound investment for ?50?

cheap as its uk post , commando isnt for a new user in my opinion, pli is better and u need a line too .. l have one of these around somewhere here fine . they have the same inners as the 500 v2 , or get this but u have to wait 15 days DVB-S Standalone Digital Satellite Receiver with LAN Port/RS232/YPrPb/CVBS/SPDIF - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

Are these boxes illegal for FTA? or are they just clones - that box has the dream badge on it - surely thats infringemnet of copyright?

them boxs are not that good picture and sound is not great and i dont think it says dream on it that looks like it a blackbox the same as i got a while back to try

order a dm clone from here they also do the box above for 33 plus postage

surly if you are looking fta why not just buy a freesat box because anything else is just as bad as what you stated above ?

dreambox havnt make a 500 for 6 years m8 ,, they were not great anyway the clones where better

just looks dated to me m8 and pli is super stable , cant say l have used lately tho

Works well for me, rock solid and comparative to PLi and others. But the support is more "home" based so I tend to keep to the local images as they offer support, we should show some.

But each to their own and I prefer the image, but that's from my experience. Look at the EPG work alone and that swings it for me.

Yup, Lraizer is a wizard with the epg, and AL testing it with feedback will guarente a perfect new epg.

I agree the Commando image is a top notch image and several friends are using it now.

From more research the box on ebay is a blackbox. Ive checked the espow route but some people have waited 14 days for delivery and orders have been lost. They are importers and therefore can have unreliable suppliers. I think i may stick to to the ebay route, this guy seems genuine.

I will have to buy it quick tho as ebay are removing any linux box that resemble a DreamBox product apparently? My biggest issue with these boxes are if they are infringing copyright/counter-feight and if i supply them to friends and family on a FTA basis i will get them and me in soap and bubble!!

As was stated earlier, DM stopped producing the 500 years ago. Most people have bought clones as new genuine dm500 ones cannot be bought.

There are probably more clones out there than genuine boxes, I like many others have a clone and never heard of anyone getting into bother just owning one.

If you look around on here, you can probably find info on UK sellers that sell a 500 clone, may spend a few quid more but at least you don't have the worry of sending it back to China if their is a fault.

As for owning a clone for FTA, I wouldn't worry about it m8.
