Yes, OpenPLi DM500S is a good image. Just bear in mind that it's as good as it ever gets, because all PLi dev (and Rytec E1 EPG support) stopped dead in it's tracks on E1 back in April 2009.

Ive had a dm 500 clone for nearly 2 years now never had any trouble with it and fine running on pli image boxes can be picked up cheap under ?50 and an easy starter box to learn with. And if u need any help setting it up more people will beable yo help on here with dm 500 than a less well known box.

builds are automated, 7 feb 2012, OR 7 feb 2010... same image!
apart from their automation that updates the satellites.xml in the image, its not really been touched in years.

I wouldn't call them basic updates exactly, Satsearching. And I wouldn't say that Team PLi 'took' them, exactly, m8. They needed quite a bit of persuading if you remember...

First, there was your revelation on how they could activate tun.ko support in the kernel, so that the OpenVPN plugin could finally be got working in OpenPLi. This has been in all nightly builds ever since.

Followed not long after by LraiZer's vastly improved RadioTimes EPG script, which is available in the downloads panel. But yes- UkCvs certainly believe in sharing!!

                Cheers- AL

                  AL

Maybe a total coincidence that they also added analogue clock support a few weeks after it was commited to ukcvs???

But yup, it is all about sharing, totally agree, as crap as we are.

Commandos a great image for the 500, gets better with every release. Personally I think think the ukcvs guys are doing a fantastic job. Just to bring the image back to life from the old cable Dbox days and get it working on the 500S is a big achievement in itself...before the EPG functionality is even mentioned..
B16MCC has also addded funcitionality into hus UK services database tool to produce commando format neutrino bouquets in the latest releases so even better. That was one thing that kept me on E1 images the ease of being able to use DBedit for bouquets etc..
Kepp up the good work guys.
