DM500 port forwarding help

Hi guy,
First question
i have been able to setup my dream box. My problem is port forwarding, when i set it up and use portchecker the following massages apear. 1st message WILL CANNOT PING YOUR ROUTER 2nd message YOUR PORT Is OPEN. what does these mean

Second question. can anyone tell me please the order to set port forwarding up, e.g configure static ip first, forward the port or the other way round. Thanks

make your dreams ip static
say 192.168.0.10
if you where serving up on port 12000
then log into your router
and open port 12000 and point it at 192.168.0.10
save it
done
