    Easiest box to use is?

    Hi,

I have a DM500, its great an all, but its not exactly pretty when it comes to navigating around the interface or using the EPG.. also it cant do any kind of timeshift or recording.

What is the best box for the following requirements:

    Electronic Programme Guide
    Timelapse
Recording channels (more than one at once if poss)
    High Definition
    Nice Interface
    Easy Setup

I know none of the boxes are going to be as nice to use as sly's or v*rgins, but any that come close would be nice so I can look in to them.

    Thanks

    Kevin

yes it can record, if you mount a nas to it, , but looking at your requirements, you want a dreambox 800 se,

I mounted a network drive for the DM500, which yeah does enable recording, but its not exactly elegant, can only record what your watching, doesn't allow pause and the EPG is damn ugly!

What is the EPG like on the dreambox 800, and how many LNB ports does it have?

Its just so I can record one channel whilst watching another, which would you say it the 'prettier' as in UI out of the 2 boxes you named and which would be easiest for setup?

Edit: Initially its for the 'rents, so easy to use and setup is a must, with me.. i'm happy to hack away

all enigma 2 wont be much difference tbh.. all would need a modicum of knowledge to set up, but plenty of guides on here

How much nicer than enigma 1 or more specially the DM500 are they, because even though I like messing with things and installing bits n bobs, it is really ugly when it comes to moving around the menus...

Pressing OK, then OK again then Bouquet, then choose a bouquet, then choose a channel... bit of a pain and the age of the box shows through the graphical interface really.

m8 vu duo clone is what you need if your looking twin tuner or for handy setup blade bm7000 it has 7 day epg but you are limited to watching only a few channels when you are recording

so my money goes on vu duo clones now its as close as you will get to what a sky box does

the menus on vu are laid out fine and there is loads of images and skins to choose from

as for what you say about getting channels on dm 500 hitting the tv and blue button on dm 500 will do the same as what your doing below

Pressing OK, then OK again then Bouquet, then choose a bouquet, then choose a channel

                  i second what potrobber says,
ive just moved from a dm 800, ( 500 before that)
and the vu duo is the best box that ive had, epg, recording etc is spot on.
